Trendstop: ロンドンコレクションのランウェイ、キートレンド: Men SS 2016

Now that Spring/Summer 2016 menswear shows have come to a close for another season, the experts at Trendstop bring you the latest trends fresh from the catwalk. The season kicked off in the UK with London Collections: Men, inviting the international fashion scene to The Hospital Club and Bloomsbury House, right at the heart of the city. Martial arts uniforms and eastern aesthetics were key themes on the catwalks, introducing a sense of fluidity to summer fashion. Elsewhere, concepts of British ‘lad culture’ added humorous undertones through placement graphics and stripped-back football kits. This week, FMAG readers can see which London designers were highlighted as Trendstop’s Top 5, each chosen by our editors for their progressive and inspirational approach to contemporary men’s fashion.

Feeling Zen – J.W. Anderson

For S/S16, J.W. Anderson updates his striking signature aesthetic with a clean Zen colour palette and quirky yet subtle details. Asian influences emerge with tapered judo pants and boxy wrap tunics, together with tie-waisted jackets and flatly-cut vests, anchoring the designs to a strong Eastern-inspired silhouette.

A Martial Arts Movement – Craig Green

Craig Green continues to evolve his label into a sophisticated, increasingly unified wardrobe proposal. This season, he combines the languages of ceremonial martial arts with Japanese for a new take on uniform design. Contoured garments are quilted, wrapped and tied, complete with utilitarian touches.

Oriental Sports Luxe – Astrid Andersen

A potent play-off between Eastern and Western gang culture is tempered with a sensual twist, juxtaposing masculine strength with feminine fluidity. Delicate cherry blossom prints flourish on oversized streetwear silhouettes, as slick nylons contrast with floral-embroidered lace.

Step Back to the 70’s – Topman Design

Topman Design demonstrates that menswear’s preoccupation with the 70’s is far from over, refreshing retro aesthetics with a coolly contemporary approach. Tailored pants catch the eye with baggy flared shapes, teamed with sportive knits or blocked anorak jackets. Elsewhere, silk shackets and feminine blush tones offer a fresh take on the concept of the modern man.

Subversive Sizes – Christopher Shannon

A mist of hungover hedonism hangs over Shannon’s latest collection, which sees the designer play with convention to innovate a striking summer-ready wardrobe in shades of neutrals and neon. Oversized silhouettes stand out in the form of blown-up denim separates or voluminous bottoms, along with panel pop hoodies.
