Trendstop brings to you art meets fashion at leading leather fair, Lineapelle. ‘Reality Check – a statement or action that helps you see what is really happening or possible’ is the theme for FW16-17 and the show’s trend selection area sees the new season’s skins complimented with digital art projects and video installations.
Marco Capioli’s ‘Abstract Trip’ which features photographs of the earth’s surface captured with the Google Earth App echoes the abstracted surfaces, crater-esque embosses and hazy nature prints seen on the stands.
Strata-like graphics and marbled surfaces contrast with glossy furs and space age metallics in dark galactic tones are highlighted in Marco Mendini’s animated exploration of a fragmented dystopian world.
At the other end of the colour spectrum, a continuation of SS16’s transseasonal trend sees paler hues and off-beat brights introduced for winter. Set against Rachel Burgato’s audio visual project ‘Glitch Pop’, childhood computer game references, 8-bit graphics and rhythmic geos offer a fun alternative to classic autumnal shades.
