desginer : stéphane rolland silhouette: a collection in black and white to highlight the designer’s style of cutting. a work focused on the volume of sculpted dresses and on the simplicity of certain refined and minimalist silhouettes. focus: on the leather embroideries, placed at the top of the hips with a sort of delicate sensuality. the designer launches for the first time a capsule collection of high fashion fur, working with a more graphic sense and a respect for ethics. inspiration: the work of spanish artist pablo palazuelo a close friend of cristobal balenciaga’s who is reflected in this artistic collection. interview with stéphane rolland: it’s more like an art exhibition. i’m in favor of this philosophy, of today’s state of mind; economically i found it was good. today’s market is not always obvious; therefore it’s a question of paying attention to the economic climate but also being reasonable and i think that it’s always difficult situations that bring creativity. bizarrely, opposite me i always have the work of pablo palazuelo. he’s a spanish painter, who was balenciaga’s friend, i discovered his work when i was a teenager and i didn’t notice how similar my dna was to what he was painting. i really didn’t notice that what i was making was indirectly influenced by his work. i always collaborate with artists on my collections, i love mixing my work with the work of other artists and i’ve already started the final season in partnership with a young italian who is very talented and i’m sticking with her, she’s made me leather embroideries that i wanted to be like 3d sculptures which pop out of the dress. i think that black and white works best, one could say that it’s simplicity, for me it highlights the cut as well as the discourse and materials. music from the fashion show/ not to be used beyond 7 days after the show
